Day 92 Jonesboro to West Quoddy Lighthouse ME 4,564

Monday, October 12, 2020 -- Today marks the end of our journey across the United States of America. 92 days ago we left Eureka California and headed east, across the country to the furthest point eastern seaboard, lighthouse just east of the town of Lubec Maine.  Our route took us through 20 states, along highways and byways off the beaten path. We travelled through small town's and rural countryside, avoiding most larger cities.  

Our group varied in size and, although it was never measured, it looks like 83 yo Larry may have been the rider that saw most all the route!  Please reference the credits, below.

Day 87 : Elms to Portland ME

Riding north along the coast of Maine towards Portland, thru small towns and sea-side villages, such as Kennebunkport and Old Orchard Beach. A lot of short, rolling ups-n-downs make up the route with a total net elevation gain of 1,180'.  

We can almost see the end of the trip!

Day 83 : East Granby CT to Morseville MA

Headed east-northeast from Granby and along side the Bradley International Airport to CT75 and north to Suffield.  Following various roads through Thompsoneville, Baptist Village, Monson, Dingley Dell, Brimfield and Sturbridge before ending up in Morseville.  Generally an uphill ride.

Day 33 : Springer to Gladstone NM - 1,695

From Springer, we followed US56 east toward the western reach of the Oklahoma panhandle.   The mountains are now well behind us and we're looking at about as flat as can be.

Coronavirus Interupt-us

Though our last blog post had us in Springer NM, we actually had travelled through the northeast portion of New Mexico and across Oklahoma to the town of Jay, a few miles west of Maryville AR.  We covered 2,290 miles in 46 days and were nicely making way, when ...

The World came to a screeching halt.  The Coronavirus (AKA SARS CoVID19, or COVID-19) pandemic hit the US and in Colorado, most everything shut down March 13, 2020.  A Friday, nonetheless. 

In the next few weeks, I'll update the blog to illustrate our journey - roughly half-way across America.
